Be Square is the collected Holga work of six Portland photographers. Comprising a large portion of the staff of Blue Moon Camera and Machine, this eclectic group uses cameras across a tremendous range of size, shape and disposition. Therefore, it is far from an uncommon sight to see any of them making good use of the lo-fi characteristics of the Holga, all in their own particular fashion. Peter gravitates toward the gaudy colors of neon signs and carnivals. Mark specializes in suspended animation rendered in 3D. Nancy's mantra is simple: point and shoot. Faulkner uses the Holga because of its eccentricities. Kendall captures forgotten meltdowns and Zeb's Holga helps him find magic in urban and natural wilderness.
